Welcome to our world, Celine!

Yesterday we went to the humane society in Hofheim to get Michael's Christmas cat. We'd looked at the society's webpage: I thought Jenny seemed nice, but Michael liked the kittens Peggy and Poldi, who weren't to be separated. I didn't know what we'd do. When we went to the cages though, Jenny, Peggy and Poldi were all snoozing, and Celine was so eager to get out of her cage and play. The caretaker said Celine was a real trusting cat who loves to play. So funnily enough, although we hadn't even thought of her, she chose us!

The car ride seemed to have been a bit traumatic though and Celine spent the evening hiding in her transport box, refusing to come out even to eat. We felt so bad for her, even though Michael had made his room a cat's paradise. At 2:30 a.m. I heard the jingling of a cat toy, and there she was out of the box, and she let herself be brushed and petted. I stayed with her a bit, then went back to bed. Today she spent a lot of time curled between the transport box and shelves, but would come out to play. Towards evening she even jumped up the cat tree Michael bought for her (over $100!) and started to play with the boys.

I never would have thought it, but it really is sweet having a cat in the house!
