Oktoberfest

This weekend we drove to see Patrick's godparents and my godson in Munich. By chance, it was also the first weekend of Oktoberfest. We ended up driving 10 hours round trip instead of our usual train ride because the reasonable tickets had all been taken!

Once there, we figured we might as well take part in the biggest Volksfest in the world! To get a table in one of the huge drinking "tents," which hold 5000 people and take two months to build up, you have to reserve a year in advance. No matter, we were mostly interested in the rides (ferris wheel with cute Bavarian chalets as cabins) and treats (Bratwürste, chocolate covered bananas, sweet popcorn).

Lots of action on Sondermeierstrasse as well! Luis's construction toys were in constant action--Duplo figures came to life, cranes were in action, and babies had to be rescued with fire trucks to keep them from falling into garbage trucks!

  1. FUN! I've always wanted to experience Oktoberfest! Maybe that could be a goal for next year???
