Awe-struck

Since our return, we have been amazed by all the meteorological activity here in Germany--puffy white clouds, dark storm clouds, cotton blanket formations, red sunrises and orange sunsets--but the sky last Tuesday morning was truly incredible. I'd sent Nick out the door to catch his bus to school at 6:45 a.m. when suddenly I heard steps being jumped up two at a time and then a pounding at the door. Nick had returned to let me know about a giant rainbow in the red sky.

Truly, no photo could do it justice. The sky was so pink and there was this huge arc in the sky, and then a second rainbow arched around it. I quickly roused Patrick and Michael out of their beds and they too were able to look at it in wonderment. Was a good thing too, because a few minutes later, the sky turned pure blue. Shortly thereafter, everything turned to gray soup and we had rain for the rest of the day. The vision of the rainbow kept me awe-struck all day.

  2. What a video you posted, Bennett! I didn't cry like the guy in Yosemite, but honestly, it was intense. How often does a 17-year-old run back up stairs at 6:45 in the morning to share the wonder. How often does a mom wake her children before she has to!

To see a rainbow in its entirety and then another one above it is amazing. So, yeah, what does it mean?
