Evita!

Between Christmas and New Year we saw "Evita" in the Alte Oper. We had wanted to see a movie, but when nothing struck our fancy (we're waiting for "The King's Speech" to make it to Germany, if ever), I remembered the flyer for "Evita" I'd picked up in the subway train one morning and suggested it as something different. Nick and Patrick were up for it (Michael was still at the grandparents), so we went into Frankfurt, saw the show from the top balcony (Patrick's choice), then had some Thai food at Suwadee near Hauptwache.

Since I'd wanted to see "Evita" forever, I was glad we saw it, glad the boys experienced a musical in the Alte Oper. But definitely thought Andrew Lloyd Webber's other musicals like "Cats" and even "Starlight Express" were more moving. Left the show with no feelings towards Evita whatsoever. Perhaps it was because we were so high up we couldn't even see her face! Has anyone seen the film with Madonna and Antonio Banderas? Maybe I should see that.

  1. I really enjoyed the Madonna/Banderas film and soundtrack. Saw Evita as a teen when it first toured the States. On reflection, I enjoyed the film more.
