My officemate, Peggy, started "Poetic Voices" at the university two years ago. The evening of song and poetry readings came out of a creative writing course she was teaching at the time. This semester I volunteered to help with the drinks, along with Carla (Cousin Allison put me in touch with her; she teaches academic writing courses at the European School of Business!) on my left and Birgit, one of the first assistant professors I met when I started teaching at Goethe, on my right. It was fun to be under the direction of a student (the front-of-house manager) for a change! 
As a souvenir, I bought the students' anthology of short stories and poems. Hats off to them for writing in English. Now that we have the semester break (although I still have some grading to do), I hope to get a chance to read them.
